Volvo Will Never Let You Miss a Meet Again
LAS VEGAS — The best thing about being out of the office is being unavailable for certain meetings.Evil geniuses Volvo and Microsoft are about to end all that. The two companies have collaborated on an in-car solution to this office absentee problem: integrating Skype for Business in a Volvo car.
Maybe Volvo should take most of the blame... er... credit since it's the one integrating existing business communication technology in its 90 Series cars.
The application will appear on the automobile's huge in-dash touchscreen, connecting to your smartphone to complete the call. Mashable was promised a hands-on demo of Skype integration later this week. We'll report back on our findings.
In a press release on the new technology, which will be on display this week at CES,
Anders Tylman-Mikiewicz Volvo's vice president of consumer connectivity
services explained his company's fascination with making group meetings
happen when you're on the go this way, “We’ve all been there. Sitting
in the car trying to join a conference call. You either fumble with or
drop your phone while trying to connect or you forget the long PIN code
to join. It’s not the best way to start an important call in the car. On
top of all that your attention is not where it should be — on the road.
With the addition of Skype for Business all that goes away."Along with Skype for Business, Microsoft is also bringing its digital voice assistant, Cortana, to Volvos, which means the cars will get voice recognition and access to Cortana's Bing- and AI-based intelligence. Perhaps you'll not only be able to attend meetings while in your Volvo, but have all the answers, too.
Maybe being able to attend all those meetings no matter where you are isn't such a bad thing.
Holds 2 Terabytes of Data - The world's largest Flash Drive
Have a ton of digital data you need stow away in your pocket? You're in luck — about two full terabytes worth of it, in fact.
Fresh off the CES news line comes word of Kingston Digital's latest offering, a massive (at least storage-wise) USB flash drive, the DataTraveler Ultimate Generation Terabyte (GT). With up to 2 TB of storage, Kingston claims it's the highest capacity USB flash drive in the world.
In the words of my colleague Damon Beres, "that's a big honkin' flash drive."
Back in 2013, Kingston was the first to release a 1 TB flash drive. The new 2 TB version comes outfitted with a zinc-alloy metal casing for "shock resistance" and a USB 3.1 adapter (sorry, MacBook Pro users).
If you were wondering just how much storage 2 TB gives you, it's about 70 hours of 4K video. You know all those episodes of Game of Thrones you pirated downloaded?
You can fit the entire 60-hour series (so far) in glorious 4K with
plenty of room to spare — all on a drive that fits in your palm.
The drive is primed to ship in February in both 1 TB and 2 TB sizes, but a price point hasn't been set for either model. Expect it to cost a pretty penny — stuffing all that storage into such a small package won't come cheap.

WANT YOUR IPHONE'S STORAGE LAST LONGER? HERE'S SOME TRICKS
1. Don't shoot everyday video in high res
While for some it may be essential to shoot video with their iPhones
in the highest resolution possible, for most people's everyday cute
kitty clips a lower resolution will suffice.
2. Don't keep messages forever
By default, your iPhone saves all your text and multimedia messages forever. It's unlikely you really want iMessage, SMS and MMS correspondence going back years, so there is a way to have messages automatically delete after a sensible timeframe.
3. Don't keep all photos when shooting HDR
The iPhone camera's "high dynamic range" setting is a clever tool when used correctly, but can be a real memory hog if you use it often. This is because it takes multiple exposures before combining those snaps into the HDR version.4. Don't automatically download purchases made on another iDevice
If you have multiple Apple devices, there's a default setting that
sees all purchases across all devices automatically downloaded to every
device linked with that iTunes account. To stop your iDevice doing this, go to "Settings," then "iTunes & App Store." Here you can toggle off to stop the automatic download of music, apps, books and audiobooks and updates.
5. Don't keep high resolution photos on your iPhone
If you've activated the iCloud Photo Library service, then you can choose to enable a setting that saves you a ton of photo storage space.
The option to "Optimize iPhone Storage" saves your pics and vids to
your Camera Roll as per usual, but in a smaller format. The full-res
originals are stored in iCloud, ready to access whenever you might need
them.If you go to "Settings," then "iCloud," then "Photos" and select "Optimize iPhone Storage" you'll be all set up.

HERE'S THE BRAND NEW LG's 4K TVs FOR BETTER COLOR ACCURACY
TV manufacturers seem to be a bit stuck on where to go next. 3D
didn't exactly take off, and 4K, while nice, has been around for years
and there's still not enough content for most users to really care.
